Level 1: Introductory Chinese (Block 1)

This course is a beginners level course of Mandarin Chinese designed for students without any Chinese language background. Introductory Chinese will provide you with a rudimentary knowledge of the Mandarin phonetic system (Pinyin), pronunciation, tones, the writing system, daily vocabulary, and basic sentence structure. Speaking and listening practice will be emphasized in this course. Students will learn how to greet, ask for names, ask for nationality, ask about an address, ask the date etc.

    Mondays & Thursdays, 6:30pm – 8:30pm

Level 2: Elementary Chinese I (Block 2)

This course is designed for those who have completed Introductory Chinese or the equivalent (30 class hrs). This course will help students improve their vocabulary, enhance their Chinese speaking, listening, writing and reading abilities. At the completion of the course, students will be able to use Chinese to ask for the price, order dishes in a restaurant, change money in a bank, borrow books in a library, etc. Students are expected to make short conversations related to daily life.
